If you’re stuck in a creative rut and wondering how to stay motivated when inspiration dries up, this is the book—and the message—you need right now.
In this video, I share how Keep Going by Austin Kleon helped me get through a season of creative burnout and reminded me why I started making art in the first place.
Let’s be real: creative slumps happen to all of us.
Sometimes you’re overflowing with ideas, and other times? You’re staring at a blank sketchbook wondering if you’ll ever feel excited about art again.
That’s where I was—until I picked up Keep Going.
This book doesn’t give you a rigid plan or preach productivity. Instead, it gently reminds you that creating is a practice. That showing up matters more than perfection. And that it’s okay to make things even when you don’t feel particularly “inspired.”
What I love about Keep Going is how simple and honest it is.
It’s not trying to be profound. It’s not trying to turn you into a content machine. It’s about sustaining your creative life through the ups, downs, and messy middle.
Some of my favorite reminders from the book:
There’s something about Austin Kleon’s voice that feels like a trusted friend reminding you it’s okay to keep things small—and still keep going.
I picked up Keep Going during a time when I was questioning everything in my art business. I felt exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to make next.
Reading this book helped me pause, breathe, and reconnect with the parts of creativity that bring me joy—not just the parts that produce results.
It gave me permission to step away from the pressure and return to play.
If you’re feeling burned out or uninspired, I can’t recommend it enough.
In this video, I talk more about how Keep Going helped me reset my mindset around art and creativity—and why it’s now one of my favorite books for creative burnout.
